Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"We were seated at a sofa at the window, overseeing the beautiful Victoria Harbor. The sofa was very comfy and the view was unbeatable. The key is to arrive a bit early to get the window seat, they open at noon. Service is very good, as you would expect at a high-end restaurant. Dim sum was good (see photos), as they used premium ingredient, like lobster and abalone, and delicious. Portion was a bit small. Overall, it is like a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me to dine in a Michelin 2-star restaurant."
"Located right next to the iconic Victoria Harbour, the view was impeccable. Environment gave a luxurious vibe with a modern Chinese-style featuring a heavy use of grey tones and marble stones. Staff was professional, knowledgeable and attentive. They explained menu items in detail before ordering and when serving dishes, leaving customers feeling valued in every moment. They suggested ordering a half portion seeing that we might have ordered more than we could eat, so that we could try as many dishes as possible. Food was not impressive and you can have definitely tastier Cantonese dishes in cheaper eateries but I guess a lot of the price went to the presentation, the environment, and the service. Overall, I'd say it's worth it."
"Staff was excellent. Everyone was so polite and respectful. The barbecue Pork appetizer was the best I’ve ever had. It was so tender. The 4 pieces were perfect for me. Everyone in our group enjoyed their chicken and sea bass. A surprise photo, card and cake for our anniversary was a great touch."
"This is my first time dining at Lai Ching Heen (Yan Toh Heen) . Entering the restaurant from the hotel lobby felt like walking through an art gallery—it was exceptionally elegant. We had reserved a table by the window facing the convention center, with an embroidered screen beside us, adding to the refined ambiance. The entire restaurant is decorated with extensive use of jade and features numerous art pieces for admiring. Ms. Yu, the tea sommelier, attended to us throughout our meal. From introducing the artwork and tea selections to providing personalized tea recommendations, her extensive knowledge of tea and detailed explanations of the art were truly admirable. Regarding the food, Ms. Yu was also extremely attentive. I personally do not eat beef or pork, and my elderly mother cannot eat hard rice due to her age. Ms. Yu thoughtfully communicated our dietary needs to the chef, and we are very grateful for the restaurant's accommodating approach. Lastly, we were also gifted rose-flavored mooncakes—a very thoughtful gesture. It's especially worth mentioning that Ms. Yu thoughtfully took an instant photo for us, complete with signatures from all the staff as a keepsake. We were truly touched by this delightful surprise. However, one suggestion would be to improve accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges. Currently, accessing the restaurant requires using the hotel’s internal service elevator, which is not very convenient. It would be great if this could be improved."
"Just wow! The place was super high class. From the hallways to the cutlery. We ordered the set menu and it was on points. The char siu was tender and the flavor was spot on. The space was overlooking the bay and had a great feel to it."
"We came here because it was located inside our hotel, and with it being New Year’s Eve, we did not want to be stuck wandering around outside. The hotel staff did their best to book us in even though the restaurant was technically overbooked at the time. We were told there would be no window seating available, but we ended up getting a window seat anyway. When we arrived, the restaurant was actually about half empty, which was a bit surprising. We decided to try the prix fixe menu even though it was on the expensive side and had two Michelin stars. The portions were big, so it was a very filling meal. The standout dishes for me were the suckling pig, the complimentary caviar, and the lobster. Those were genuinely enjoyable and well executed. The rest of the courses were kind of mid for the price. I especially could not stomach the sea cucumber, which was just not for me. The drinks were good and well made. Service was a strong point. The servers were very nice, attentive, and professional throughout the meal. They also took a Polaroid photo of us and signed the card, which was a really nice and thoughtful touch. The ambience and restaurant space itself were beautiful and felt appropriate for a special occasion like New Year’s Eve. Overall, while there were a few highlights, I personally did not feel the prix fixe menu lived up to the two Michelin star expectation given the cost. That said, the service, drinks, and setting were excellent, and I appreciated having a comfortable dining option inside the hotel for the night."

"Lai Ching Heen, Hong Kong – A Lunch with a View and Timeless Cantonese Elegance Lunch at Lai Ching Heen was a truly remarkable experience, one that combined exquisite Cantonese cuisine with a stunning sense of place. Set against sweeping harbour views, the dining room felt calm, refined, and effortlessly elegant—an ideal setting to slow down and savour every dish. The dim sum was exceptional, showcasing precision and finesse in every bite. Each piece was delicately crafted, with thin skins, balanced fillings, and clean, pure flavours that reflected the kitchen’s mastery and restraint. The steamed fish was another highlight—perfectly cooked, silky in texture, and beautifully seasoned to let the freshness of the fish shine through. It was a dish that embodied classic Cantonese philosophy: simplicity executed at the highest level. The standout of the meal was the fried crab shell, rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. Every spoonful was packed with flavour, comfort, and depth, making it an unforgettable dish and a true highlight of the lunch. Paired with the serene views and attentive service, the entire experience felt both luxurious and deeply comforting. Lai Ching Heen delivers not just exceptional food, but a sense of occasion—where tradition, craftsmanship, and atmosphere come together seamlessly. A memorable lunch in every sense, and a must-visit for anyone seeking the pinnacle of refined Cantonese dining in Hong Kong."
